Today started off by walking over to First Guns to check it out, wow....it's frustrating to see all of the awesome toys on the shelf. If only our laws weren't so bad. I would love to buy an AK. I was chatting with one of the owners there for a while, he was asking about our laws up in Canada, and how it works for us Canadians if we decide to purchase a gun.
During our conversation a Lady walked in, and within 30 minutes was able to walk out of the store with a handgun, carried concealed. The fastest transfer I've had in Ontario was a week, bloody laws getting in the way of purchasing new toys.
After spending a bit of time and money at First Guns (buying items that are legal to take out of the USofA, like paper targets and such), we hoped back into the truck and made the hour or so drive down to Mount Rushmore. What an experience it was driving up to the Mount, seeing the first glimpse of Washington and Jefferson carved into the mountain side.
We toured the park for what seem like minutes, but in reality was several hours, the amount of history, National pride that was on display. Saw what you want about American's but when it comes to honoring some of their greatest leaders, they do it right! I could go on for paragraphs talking about Mount Rushmore, but I will let the pictures (see below) do the talking for me. I want to come back, and bring my brothers next time.
After Mount Rushmore, we drove to the Crazy Horse monument, a work in progress for decades and probably decades to come. Again see the pictures below.
The last stop for the day was at Devils Tower, an almost unnatural rock out cropping. It look like the top of pumpkin. Roland and I hiked around the tower soaking up as much of the scenery as possible. After 3 nights and 4 days of drinking beer, eating dinners and night, and subsisting on 'mission critical supplies' it was good to get some exercise in.
Today was a busy day, we saw, explored 3 huge landmarks in the Midwest, I love this part of the country, it's breath taking.
We're in Sheridan Wyoming for the night, I'm beat, lets see how far we make it tomorrow!
