We're on our way out of Calgary today, I promised my uncle Jay that I would come up to visit him in Lacombe (a few hours north of Calgary).

The plan is Roland and I would use my Uncle's place as a base of operations for day trips back to Calgary, Edmonton and any of the other cities around the area.

Being able to hang out with my cousin Jessie and crash at my Uncle's place is nice, a few night's there really saves on the trip budget. At the rate I'm spending money I may need to sell a kidney (joking...kind of). Before we left Calgary to head up to Lacombe, Roland and I decided to check out a breakfast spot that was recommended by Kiera.

The Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus, it's hard to describe what they are. It's kind of a mix between a crepe, pancake and pizza..depending on the toppings you decide to add. I can tell you this, it's 100% delicious!!!!!

In true to form for this trip, I'm a fat bastard I decided to have a lunch one, followed by a dessert one. Both were amazing!!

Before heading out of Calgary, we decided to check out a couple of the local gun shops. We managed to check out Alberta Tactical Rifle, I actually bought my first box of 300 Whisper here, it's a wonky little cartridge. It's a 30 caliber bullet in a cut down, necked up 5.56 Nato case, the nice thing about the 300 Whisper / Blackout, in an AR-15 it uses the same parts, all you have to do is swap the barrel. Too bad we Canucks can't take full advantage of the bullet, it's designed around a suppressor, but those are the laws. I can only hope they change in the future.

We also took a look at Calgary Shooting Centre, to check out their wares. It's a huge store, offering a wide range of products from pistols to rifles and everything in between. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to buy, but I've yet to come up with a decision. The one thing Calgary Shooting Center offers, is a chance to shoot firearms, they have an indoor range, and you're able to shoot non-restricted, restricted and PROHIBITED!!! firearms as well.

Yes, you read that right, at Calgary shooting Centre, you have the option of shooting Prohibited (semi-auto only) rifles and pistols. I couldn't turn down the opportunity to give them a go. I rented a Thompson Sub Machine gun and a couple hundred rounds of ammo. It wasn't cheap, but I couldn't turn down an oppurtunity to try one of my favourite guns.

It was everything I hoped for and more! God I wish our gun laws didn't suck, I would buy this rifle in a heartbeat!

After drooling on the merchandise for a while, Roland and I headed up to Lacombe, we went out of the way for this part of the journey. I drove through Drumheller, which is part of the badlands. I wanted Roland to see just how majestic the Canadian prairies can be.

We finally arrived at my Uncle's place around 7 pm local time. It was great seeing him, my Aunt Cindy and my cousin Jessie.
A couple of days of taking it easy and being able to use his place as base camp while we head back to Calgary and to Edmonton in the coming days.

The pictures for the day
