It's day seven of our road trip, we picked up the vehicles from Bill's in-laws farm, loaded up our luggage and then got back onto the road.
From Moose Jaw to the Alberta border wasn't that far, and it's a surprising nice drive, I had visions that the prairies were flat and boring, far from it, there's a few places to check out a long the way.
We hit the border, and snapped a few pics, Jay was asking how far we should make it for the day. With the lack of available time before we have to fly back, I told Jay that we need to push forward and get us to Lacombe. We still have to help Jay unpack and move everything into the house, if don't make Lacombe tonight we wouldn't have had much time to complete the move.
Jay and I agreed and we pushed through, we went up through the bandlands and an area called Drumheller.
The place was amazing, seeing the different rock outcroppings. A unique geographical area within the prairies.

Happy Birthday Paul, it's his 34th Birthday, and we're spending it in Moose Jaw.
Bill took us around to the few sites and sounds to see in the city, we checked out the local Armory and then we went back to Regina to check out Wholesale sports and Princess Auto.
It's a good thing I'm flying back, there's always a few things I would like to pick up at Princess Auto
We ended the night with a Birthday Day Dinner for Paul

We made it as far as Moose Jaw today, apparently we're going to be spending a few nights here.
My cousin Bill will be putting my brothers and I up for a couple of nights, which is nice
To our surprise him and Amanda will be putting on a BBQ for us, it's nice to be stationary for a bit, but at the same time for my Brothers upcoming birthday, I was hoping to be enjoying it in Calgary. Also, I'm worried about how much time we have left before we have to fly home, I was only able to get a couple of days off work.
For now, we're going to take it easy and enjoy the receding flood waters around Moose Jaw

Our day started with a big hearty meal, need to top up the tank for the drive ahead. After taking in a few of the monuments of Kenora, we got back on to the road and headed to the Provincial border, even from Kenora it still took a while to get to the Manitoba border.
Finally after 3 days of drive, and nearly 2000 km of driving we reach the border.
This the first time I've been out of Ontario on it's western border!

Day three and we left probably the shadiest hotel I've ever stayed at, during the night I thought the hotel manager was going to break in and do things......well it wasn't the greatest hotel in the world.
We left Long Lac, grabbed a coffee and continued on our journey, we made the usual stops long the way at any places worth taking in the scenery, Lake Nipagon, Thunder Bay, The Terry Fox Memorial, Kakabeka Falls, the Time Zone Change and a few other.
I was really hoping to make it out of the province today, but we only got as far as Kenora. It seems to be a bit of a Northern Ontario party town. Each day gets a but further west, tomorrow out of the Province or bust!

It's day 2 of the big move, we've left Huntsville and continued along Hwy 11 up through northern Ontario, it's the first time I've ever been up this way before, and it's nice. Not too much to see in the way of development on the road, but there is a lot of natural surroundings to admire....that's when I'm not taking my eyes off the road.
We continued along as far as well could, my Brother Jonathan has been riding shotgun with me so far, Paul is with Jay in the U-Haul....and Benjie the dog.

My Uncle Jay has decided to move out west, he will be moving to a town north of Calgary called Lacombe.
My brothers and I have volunteered to help Jay, Cindy and Jesse pack up all their belongings, load up the truck and drive out west with him.
Before heading out on the road, we spent a couple of days packing up all of their belongs (and Jay's Garage.....I've never seen so much stuff).

My co-workers and I went camping at Arrowhead provincial park this month (it's become an annual tradition) and a great time was had by all.
The weather wasn't too bad, the food was amazing and I was finally able to get out and try fishing for the first time.
Storage (my NAS) receives an upgrade

It didn't take long before my storage server (my NAS) filled up. The initial build had 8x500 GB hard drives installed, it gave me approx. 3.5 TB of usable space. When I consolidated my 2 previous file servers into this one, I had about 500 GB +/- a few GB of free space left over. I thought that amount of space would have lasted me a little while, but leave it to me and my brothers to continue downloading content. So it didn't take log to fill that up. I've decided to stick with the current hardware and go out and buy 8x1.5 TB to push for a new upgrade path. First I had to migrate all of my data to a different server, thankfully I haver another box, where I could put 4x1TB HDD's into RAID0 for a period just long enough to copy my data off, put the new 8x1.5 TB drives into my current storage NAS and then migrate the data back. With this upgrade, I'm sitting around 9.55 TB of usable space.....let's see how long that will last before I fill it up.

Well this week I was hit by a bombshell, two of my co-workers will be quitting shortly.
Ling Cheung and Marek Kupsta will be quitting Q9 for new careers, I like to wish them all the best in their future endeavors and hopefully they'll still come out for the occasional wing night.

I was asked an interesting question the other day at work.
My colleagues and I were asked by our supervisor Marcel, if you had to do it all over again, what would you do? What job would you like to be in?
